Yellowwood Park, Durban

Less than 1,300 families have the honour of calling Yellowwood Park their home. Situated just 14km from the heart of Durban, this suburb is noted for its abundance of large Yellowwood trees (Podocarpus Latifolius), some of which are well over a hundred years old. Yellowwood Park has a unique "village atmosphere," featuring a beautiful Cape Dutch civic centre and community hall available for hire for weddings and various other occasions.

Incorporated into the suburb and its surroundings is the 253-hectare Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve, which boasts a population of zebra, bushbuck, reedbuck, impala, and blue, red, and grey duiker, among other smaller animals. The reserve, under the capable control of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, offers 13km of nature walks and a 10-kilometer mountain bike trail that is regarded as moderately challenging. Durban's mountain bikers regularly enjoy this trail. The reserve also features handicapped trails and a myriad of bird species, making it a haven for birders.

Yellowwood Park is home to an active wildlife centre (CROW), stables for horses, an athletic club, a sports club, and numerous other activities, including yoga classes. The shopping centre, which is the heart of the community, offers a variety of shops, including a Super supermarket, a Chemist, hardware store, pizza takeaway, and upgraded BP garage with Woods coffee
