We have choices. We can spend our time complaining, talk about all the wrongs...or we can DO whatever we can to make it better. The Wakefields team chooses ACTION, and they did it the #WakefieldsWay
Friday was one of Durban's glorious wintery days. Gathered on the lawn alongside the Umgeni - at the Green Hub - was a shifting sea of yellow, all clasping large garbage bags. That was the distinctive Wakefields team - upwards of 150 people - from across KZN, who chose to spend a couple of hours cleaning up along the river, on the beach, in the gardens, among the rocks. From 3pm, the staff - sales consultants, admin, directors and the CEO - filled their bags with the detritus of modern life. They were joined by conveyancing attorneys, Meumann White. This clean-up gang didn't discriminate as to what they collected, but as always, plastic and polystyrene reigned supreme. From disposable nappies to take-away containers to hundreds of plastic bottle tops, the bags piled up. And this, on a day when the area appeared clean. It's so often the little things which do the most damage - the plastic rings, bottle tops, fishing line which cause such distress to the birds, fish and other wildlife. Ensuring sustainability and a clean environment, is everybody's issue - Wakefields walked the talk.
Wakefields Real Estate is one of Kwazulu-Natal's longest standing brands, a fourth generation real estate agency, which has long played a part in the numerous different communities in which they operate. That doesn't mean the brand doesn't have bigger, broader initiatives where everybody jumps on board - this Clean Up campaign was the first of many to come.
The Wakefields team has chosen to DO, rather than the alternatives.
