WAKEFIELDS TURNS 86 – A LEGACY INTERTWINED WITH KWAZULU-NATAL’S HERITAGE

On 3rd September 2025, Wakefields Real Estate proudly celebrates 86 years in business. A milestone that not only honours our company’s journey but also reflects the rich heritage of KwaZulu-Natal, the province we’ve always called home.

Founded on 3 September 1939, on the eve of World War II, Wakefields has grown into KwaZulu-Natal’s longest-running and largest independent, non-franchised real estate company. For more than eight decades, we have been privileged to walk alongside generations of families, guiding them through one of life’s most important decisions: finding a place to call home.

Much like South Africa celebrates Heritage Month this September, we celebrate the heritage we’ve built over four generations, a legacy of service, trust, and community. At Wakefields, we believe that a home is far more than bricks and mortar; it is where heritage is made, memories are built, and futures take root.

“Our mission has always been simple: to make the buying and selling process as smooth, stress-free, and positive as possible,” says Myles Wakefield, CEO. “As we celebrate 86 years, we honour not only our company’s story, but the thousands of stories we’ve been part of in KwaZulu-Natal’s communities.”

Wakefields has been consistently recognised for service excellence, winning the Daily News Your Choice Awards for over 20 years. With 26 branches across KZN, and a strong commitment to innovation and professional growth through the Wakefields Academy, we remain focused on shaping the future of real estate while staying true to the values that built our name.

This September, as we reflect on both our heritage and our future, we say thank you to the people of KwaZulu-Natal who have trusted us with their homes and their dreams for 86 years. Here’s to continuing the journey, together.

Happy 86th Birthday, Wakefields – and Happy Heritage Month to our fellow South Africans!
